This spring, the architecture firm will make the short trip from its current Manchester office on Tariff Street having signed for 4,000 sq ft at Cert Property’s Northern Quarter block.
Hawkins\Brown, which employs 30 staff in Manchester, has taken the third floor of the developer’s recently refurbished 30,000 sq ft building, having outgrown its Tariff Street office.
Katie Tonkinson, partner at Hawkins\Brown and head of its Manchester studio, said: “We are excited about what this move will bring to our growing practice. We plan for the new studio to be a flexible container that supports new ways of blended working, in addition to encouraging creativity and togetherness.”
PUPILS at a primary school have been cheering up their community with positive message signs that have been placed around the village. Children from Turton and Edgworth Primary school created around 60 signs, which were put up around the nearby Wayoh Reservoir. Many of the colourful signs provided encouragement and positivity for passersby, including ‘always look on the bright side of life’, ‘reach for the stars’ and ‘big journeys start with small steps’. The idea was the brainchild of Year Two teacher Claire Waddington, who felt that it was important to spread positivity in the community. She said: “Obviously times are as they are and there is a lot of doom and gloom around and as a school we have tried to keep spirits up among the pupils.
Amazon Prime nets nearly half of new streaming consumers in Q4
Amazon Prime secured nearly half of new UK sign-ups to subscription video on demand (SVoD) services in the fourth quarter of 2020, according to data from Kantar’s Entertainment on Demand service.
The figures show Amazon secured 49.1% of new subscriptions in Q4, meaning 53.5% of UK households are now Prime members. Nearly 2 million households joined Prime during 2020, and 16.7 million British households had at least one SVoD subscription by the end of the year.
More Amazon Prime members used Prime Video during the period, with 62.6% watching programmes compared to 60.5% in the previous quarter.
