Federal Regional Health Minister Mark Coulton says as small regional towns experience an increase in outside visitors – the need for a vaccine becomes a matter of time.
“I am concerned that some communities may think that coronavirus is something for somewhere else,” he said.
“As the vaccine rollout gathers pace - ultimately when Australians move around more – it is really important that those vulnerable communities and more isolated regional communities are covered.
“Australians are discovering their own backyards. There is a lot of these smaller communities that have got visitors coming through that normally would not – so they are vulnerable and have got high levels of chronic illness.
