The Iowa Finance Authority announced this week the availability of an eligibility precheck for the new Iowa Rent and Utility Assistance Program, which will begin accepting full applications later this month.
Pella Area Community and Economic Alliance Executive Director Karen Eischen says the program will provide financial assistance to eligible COVID-19 impacted Iowans for rent and utility costs for a period of up to 12 months. She says renters in need of assistance are encouraged to take the new Iowa Rent and Utility Assistance program’s eligibility precheck to determine if they meet the initial eligibility criteria, and if eligible, to sign-up to receive notification when the full application is available.

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - As the pandemic continues, many renters are on the brink of eviction and the demand for rental assistance programs throughout the community is sky-rocketing.
Some new funding awarded to the state through the Federal Emergency Rental Assistance program could help alleviate some of the pressure though.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp says $552 million will be put aside and given to the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) to distribute to landlords and community outreach programs that qualify.

“These funds have a direct impact on Madison County,” Madison County Chairman Kurt Prenzler said.
Community Development received $7,794,864 in grant funding from the Federal Emergency Rental Assistance program that will help the county prevent the eviction of renters in the upcoming months. Applications are available starting this week at participating intake sites or through the Madison County referral line at 618-296-5300.
“The pandemic created a housing crisis for thousands of Madison County families and landlords,” Community Development Administer Dave Tanzyus said. “With this program the county will be able to distribute funds to eligible households to help with rent and rent arrearage.”
