Federal Deputy leader of the ALP Richard Marles maintains vaccines must be rolled out “safely” but said the federal government’s delayed vaccine rollout and function within state and federal cooperation revealed a lack of “assertion”.
“The federal government has the principal responsibility here. They’re the ones responsible for making the vaccine available and making sure we have enough, he said. They were the ones who made the commitment that 4 million Australians would be vaccinated in March.”
