bring khalid shaikh mohammed and all others who are involved in terrorist attacks to justice, swift and sure, in the american justice system. jon: some relatives of the 9/11 victims are speaking out about the trial, saying while they are concerned about security costs they believe the 9/11 suspects must be tried in civilian court rather than in military tribunals. i just believe that all of these people should have a trial, we should show the world what we re doing, not to be held in some secret place where only a few people can attend. jon: joining us now is julie mennon, chairwoman of new new york city s community board one. the community board, you represent businesses, residents and so forth in lower manhattan, the area that would be affected by this trial. exactly, we represent lower manhattan, exactly where the federal courthouse is. jon: and you don t want those trials there. absolutely not and we spoke out early on.
we really launched a herculean battle to get these trials moved and we are gratified they will be moved out of the city. jon: they will be? david axelrod i think what he s saying is new york city seems to be off the table. he didn t unequivocally say that, but that s because the administration is looking at all options but we have offered a number of suggestions, military installations that are in the southern district of new york, like stewart national air base, otisville federal prison. our point is why not have a federal court civilian trial but have it at a military installation. half the country wants a military try tribunal, half wants a trial, why not split it down the middle and have it at an installation. but do it at a place where you don t have a million people trying to work and live. absolutely. it made no sense to have the trials inler manhattan. we ve got to remember it s the financial capitol of the country, what are we going to do, put the financial capitol at
