Ohio State Welcomes Indiana to Columbus This Weekend

Briefly on the Buckeyes Ohio State played a pair of hard-fought overtime games last weekend at No. 5 Northwestern but dropped them both by the scores of 4-3 and 3-2, respectively. Ohio State is 0-7 on the year with all seven of their games coming against teams ranked in the top-12 of this week’s NFHCA poll. Six of Ohio State’s seven games have been decided by one goal and three have gone to overtime. The Buckeyes’ eight goals have been scored by seven different players. Sophomore Mackenzie Allessie has three scores – two in last Friday’s game vs. Northwestern – while the other goal-scorers are: Emma Goldean, Nikki Trzaska, Sina Schwinn, Sarah Charley and Leanne Bough.

Six Buckeyes in Team USA Olympic Trials

Kyle Snyder, Nathan Tomasello, Joey McKenna, Myles Martin, Kollin Moore and Nick Boykin have all set their sights on a coveted spot for this summer’s Olympic Games in Tokyo. The first five wrestlers will be competing in the freestyle event in various weight classes. Boykin is competing in the 97kg of the Greco-Roman division. The winner of each class, with the except of the 65kg class, will earn a spot on Team USA for the Tokyo Games. The winner of the 65kg class will still have to qualify the weight for the Olympics at the World Olympic Qualifier in Sofia, Bulgaria, May 6-9.

#4/5 Irish Continue Road Swing at #7 Virginia

FOR STARTERS The #4/5 Irish return to action this Saturday (April 3) with their third consecutive ACC road contest against No. 7 Virginia. The Irish and Cavaliers are joining forces this Saturday for a One Love Game to raise awareness for the One Love Foundation. Opening draw is set for Noon ET from Klockner Stadium and the contest will be streamed live via ACC Network Extra. The Irish have won three straight games, including back-to-back road ACC wins over ranked opponents (#19 Louisville – 15-10 & #9 Duke – 13-9). In last Sunday’s road win at Duke, Bridget Deehan made 12 saves and added a career- high six ground balls en route to being named the IWLCA and ACC Defensive Player of the Week.

Swartzentruber Earns Second Team All-Big Ten Honors

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s gymnastics senior Jenna Swartzentruber claimed second team All-Big Ten laurels, the conference announced Wednesday. Swartzentruber is picking up All-Big Ten honors for a second time in her career after making her initial appearance on the team in 2019. This season, she has earned four event titles, three on uneven bars and one on balance beam. The Centerburg, Ohio, native has tied her career mark of 9.925 on bars twice. She paces the Buckeyes with a national qualifying score of 9.906 on bars, which ranks 21st in the country and fourth in the Big Ten. She was also the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award recipient for the Buckeyes. The award recognizes individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These student-athletes must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.

Ohio State and Michigan Play to a 2-2 Draw

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – It was a tale of two halves for rivals Ohio State and Michigan as both teams scored two second half goals and the game would end in a 2-all tie. Both teams are now 3-1-1 on the season. In a sport traditionally played in the fall, the weather on Monday afternoon was very fall-like. Temperatures were in the mid to upper 30s at the start of the match with a cool breeze whipping around Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. A rain and sleet mix started midway through the second half and made the final 40 minutes a little bit miserable.
