joining us now, nbc news chief political analyst, chuck todd, the man behind the article and nbc news correspondent, vaughn hillyard. chuck, when you go back and look at 2020, and why donald trump lost, is there a definitive answer for why he lost? i think if you surveyed political strategists and political scientists, you wouldn t get a definitive answer. i think he lost simply because of covid. there s a lot of people because of what happened after the election with january 6th, they think about his antics, the first impeachment. then we had the second impeachment that sort of took place right after the inauguration. we never really had that sort of consensus, you didn t have the after action reports because you have one party was in denial that they actually lost, so they didn t do an after action report. but in some ways, neither did the democrats and i think that what i feel like i m watching is what the biden campaign thought their theory of the case was in october of
federal prosecutors and attorneys who have been telling that this was really biden s way of communicating that all the jobs were in jeopardy. phil holloway joined me last hour and said look, they are very afraid of joe biden. i wonder why. why doesn t somebody have their back. they have technically they are all whistle-blowers. if anybody the doj at this point wants to come forward and just tell the truth about what they have been through in terms of having to contact hunter biden s team, contact the white house. let people know when the fbi might want to sit down with him. those sorts of tips and tipoffs in all of that, i mean, if they could just really speak without fear retribution or retaliation. that really is the definition of a whistle-blower. it s fascinating how many potentially there could be because if this pressure campaign is real and the statute of limitations runs out on the gun charges, so on and so forth, in october. we may never really know hunter biden s part in th
listening to people who are not gen z or young voters. a big part of what we have been pushing for, bring in young decision-makers. [inaudible] give young people power. sebastian? one thing i know about gen z, we are both. we care so much. we re willing to take the action. something we have seen throughout all of history, people empower fear retribution. they fear the lack of power. as young people, we want progress. we see that in the polls out of who we voted for. we care so much. we re willing to vote. whoever is willing to take decisive bold and progressive action that s all the things we care about in the league. we are desperate for it. our lives and our democracy relies on it. proof that washington and
agreed to take in afghan refugees. this includes a range of people from civil rights activists who are fearing retribution for their actions or political opinions in recent years. and there are those who have worked with western nongovernmental organisations and that aid agencies, and then there is the translators, drivers and many other people who have worked with us and nato forces, and many questions remain about their safety. though, for what it s worth, today, that taliban at its press conference that they shouldn t fear retribution. this is the view of simon dickens who is a retired british army colonel. he s the co founder of the sulha alliance which campaigns for the safe resettlement of afghan interpreters. my personal view is that if the individual and their family have what you might call reasonably plausible set of paperwork or details then we should move them out of danger first and worry about the process and paperwork later. now, there is a balance in there, and i reco
exonerated by the trump administration. what does that mean for people like that serving in the armed forces or in the special operation units? well, i think that s an open question. certainly a lot of the s.e.a.l.s who did come forward and testify fear retribution. some of them are out of the navy now, some of them are not. but certainly there s been threats of violence and other kinds of intimidation. but i think your earlier point is really something to focus on. what these platoon members accuse their chief of is very serious and very grim, and it s a terrible story. but this is also a story of a number of remarkable young men who had to come overcome like pretty serious cultural barriers and other obstacles to do the right thing, and they stuck with it, and they have continued to stick with it. the interviews paint a startlingly consistent picture of the alleged inappropriate behavior by eddie gallagher
