Founded in 1874, Dutch shipyard, De Vries Lentsch, originally commenced operations by constructing wooden rowing boats for the port of Amsterdam in 1878. Following this inauspicious beginning, it progressed to creating small traditional Dutch sailing craft for the home market.
In 1892 the company built the steel power yacht
ex. Brave Mollie. The 26.4-metre vessel was made for the autocratic King Leopold II of Belgium, who became notorious for his mistreatment of the population in the Congo Free State of the time.
Forever still exists, and is in the port of Palma.
