Islamabad

Islamabad : City areas of Tajabad, Fazal Town Phase-II, Dhoke Hafiz, Shah Khalid Colony, and Faisal Colony are not being supplied adequate water supply in Ramazan. Residents demand proper arrangements to maintain the water supply.
“We the people living in Fazal Town, Phase-I near Shelton Guest House and a little farther in Salahuddin Avenue, Street. III behind Butt Market understand the gravity of the water shortage better than most other localities of Pindi,” says Abbas Shah.
“The residents of our area depend on their neighbors’ pumps for water. Whatever the number of bore-wells in the area is, often get dried up. How many houses can give water to neighbors and for how many days? They have no choice but to depend on tankers, and most of them are apprehensive about the quality of water,” adds Abbas Shah.
Utility store robbed
Rawalpindi : Two gun-wielding motorcyclists looted a Utility Store Corporation outlet near Fazal Town here on Wednesday.
Israr Ahmed, the store manager, in his complaint to the Airport Police Station stated that two young men wearing helmets walked into the store and pulled out their guns. The gunmen threatened the staff and the customers and asked them to surrender cash and mobile phones.
The store manager and other staff members showed resistance against looters but in vain because they opened fire. The robbers used aerial firing to create fear and panic among the people. After snatching the cash and valuables, the robbers escaped on their motorcycle.

Beggars are of many kinds in Rawalpindi; street corner beggars near red lights and when motorists stop, they swarm the cars and there are beggars who come to our front door. I want to talk about the ones at the front door.
“The beggars who come to my house are regulars. We know each other’s names, I know a few of their home life stories. They are usually young women holding a baby girl or a boy,” says Wirda Batool. “I give these women money but when they come by, once a week. At times, I search my cupboard for secondhand clothes or fridge for food,” adds Wirda.

Islamabad:“Think about coming home and finding an overblown gas bill. For residents of Fazal Town Phase-I, Street No. 3, behind Butt Market surviving the coldest night, means, wearing as many clothes as possible, gathering together in a single room, and sleeping close to an electric heater. “We have got to keep warm anyhow,” says Farah Hussain.
“I and my two kids, 8 and 10, live in a house with a geyser lacking gas. Without heat or hot water, I can’t keep my family warm as I cannot have an electric heater being a mother of modest income,” says Fizza Mehdi.
