The suspension took effect on January 9, it added.
The students are Md Shihab, Md Akash Hossain, Md Moshiur Rahman Bhuiyan, Md Tamim Hossain, Md Rizwan Rashed Soan, Fayzul Islam Nirob, Shimul Ahmed, Shakil Mahmud, Alauddin Yousuf, Rozen Noor and Saroar Hossain Shakil. Key accused Shihab, a student of the marketing department, has been suspended for two years and the rest for a year. All are second-year students of different departments.
In July 2019, Shihab, along with his accomplices, entered the common room of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall late at night and began bullying the freshers, the release said.
At one stage, they beat up a first-year student, leaving him unconscious.

Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities have suspended 10 students from all academic activities for a year and another for two years after they were found guilty of ragging a first-year student and beating him till he lost consciousness.
The university syndicate had made the decision on January 9 at a virtual meeting after an investigation committee recommended their suspension over the incident, said an office order today.
The students were also expelled from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall as they were staying there as non-allotted residents, said the release.
