PORT discusses overdose outreach

The local Pathways Overdose Response Team (PORT), also called the Quick Response Team (QRT), has been keeping busy during the pandemic as the number of drug overdoses has risen. PORT is just one component of Fayette County Pathways to Recovery.
Fayette County Pathways to Recovery was started early 2019 through the Community Action Commission and consists of five certified Peer Recovery specialists who have a lived experience of addiction and have found long-term recovery. As previously reported, the program was based upon the philosophy that there are multiple pathways to recovery, people can and do recover, and that peer support and care

As Fayette County Public Health (FCPH) employees continue to provide first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to individuals eligible for Phase 1b and second doses to those in Phase 1a, they are asking for the public’s help.
Community becomes ‘#GaryStrong’

Miami Trace Local School District (MTLSD) sported plenty of orange attire, the color of ribbon signifying leukemia awareness, as a show of unity and support for their fellow Panther.

Not only did MTLSD students and staff show support for Gary in-person, but that support extended into numerous homes and families. Remote learners joined in on sporting their orange attire.

Washington Court House City Schools (WCHCS) staff and students dressed in red attire to show support for Miami Trace Elementary student Gary Lewis as he loves the Cincinnati Reds. A post on the WCHCS social media page explained, “we wanted to help him channel the strength of the Redlegs rotation as he works to strike out Leukemia. Life may be throwing some curveballs at Gary and his family right now, but the Blue Lion Family is root, root, rooting for you!”

The Ohio Department of Health s new Daily COVID-19 report shows less than five-thousand new cases of the virus on Monday. Public officials said there were four-thousand-312 confirmed coronavirus cases, marking the first time in three weeks that daily positives fell below five-thousand. There were also 81 new deaths in the report and 162 more hospitalizations. Ohioans in Group 1-B will begin receiving COVID-19 vaccines today, with officials estimating around 360-thousand people in Group 1-A have received at least one dose of vaccine.
Fayette County Public Health is now accepting pre-registration for Group Phase 1B, or those who are 65 years of age or older to get vaccinated againts covid-19. The Department prefers those in Group 1B to sign up online to help keep its office lines open. A pre-registration link can be found on the Fayette County Public Health facebook page. If you need to pre-register by phone, simply call 740-335-5910. Once pre-registered
