LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) â A Lexington man that was pardoned by former Kentucky governor Matt Bevin is back in jail and facing strangulation charges.
Kurt Smith was arrested in 2002 and sentenced to life in prison with possibility of parole after 20 years for wanton murder of his son. Smith was 17-years-old at the time.
Smith served 18 years, but was freed after Bevin pardoned him. Bevin stated that Smith Had been duly punished for his criminal actions.
Smith was booked in the Fayette County Detention Center on Friday and is facing charges of Assault, 4th degree (domestic violence) and strangulation. His bond is $4,000.
