Marjorie Taylor Greene Mocked For Challenging AOC To Debate Over Green New Deal
04/15/21 AT 6:06 PM
In a series of tweets Wednesday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., publicly challenged Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., to a debate over the Green New Deal.
Greene s challenge comes about two weeks after Ocasio-Cortez stated that the size of President Joe Biden s recent $2 trillion climate-focused infrastructure package is disappointing. It s not enough.
Greene said the debate “would be informative for the American People, and that she and Ocasio-Cortez could each pick a moderator. Ocasio-Cortez has not responded to Greene.
The debate proposal comes as Greene, considered among the most controversial new House members, has faded slightly from the public eye in recent weeks. She made headlines earlier in the year for endorsing violence, harassing school shooting survivors and proliferating antisemitic conspiracy theories.

Over the last year-plus of the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of Republicans and rightwing media figures, on the hunt for some sort of deflection away from Donald Trump’s total mismanagement of the crisis, have decided that Dr. Anthony Fauci is their best shot at a scapegoat.
The first is the “Fire Fauci Act,” which would “reduce Dr. Fauci’s salary to $0 until a new NIAID administrator is confirmed by the Senate,” even though that is not a position that currently requires Senate confirmation.
The second bill is called the “We Will Not Comply Act.” Among other things, it would prohibit businesses from “discriminating” against people based on their vaccination status or “mask compliance,” meaning customers could sue businesses for trying to make them wear masks.
