Uzbekistan to invest in Punjab’s textile sector Staff Report
Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar visited Uzbekistan with a business delegation, including Gohar Ijaz, head of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA).
Investors of Uzbekistan’s Namangan province announced an investment in textile and other sectors of Punjab. Full technical assistance will also be provided to Pakistan for increased cotton production.
According to details issued from Governor’s House Lahore, Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar along with Gohar Ijaz, Head of APTMA, Fawad Mukhtar-Chief Executive of Fatima Group of Industries, Businessman Ahsan Bashir, President of Uzbekistan-Pakistan Trade and Cultural Center Lahore-Rohail Ikram visited Namangan province of Uzbekistan upon the invitation of Governor of Namangan Shavkat Abdurrazakov. Four Pakistani coal mining and power generation companies are planning to convert massive deposits of Thar coal into gas and liquid. The companies include HUBCO, Engro, Fauji Fertilizer, and Fatima Group.
According to Khalid Mansoor, CEO of HUBCO, the four companies have decided to start a surface coal gasification and liquefaction program to reduce Pakistan’s dependence on imported fuel.

The development follows the announcement of Prime Minister Imran Khan from last month when he pledged to produce 60% of Pakistan’s total energy from green sources by 2030.
Similarly, Nadeem Babar, PM’s adviser on Petroleum, said that the federal government is exploring coal to liquids and coal to gas technologies. The current coal projects would continue but the government will not allow the construction of coal power plants in the future.

Sarsabz Fertilizer and Government pledge for farmer prosperity during second Kissan Day celebrations

Lahore: Sarsabz Fertilizer, a flagship brand of Fatima Fertilizer under the Fatima Group, along with the Government dignitaries at the occasion of second Kissan Day celebrations pledged to work for farmer prosperity. The day was proposed by Fatima Group as special first-time initiative in 2019 to recognize December 18 as âKissan Dayâ in Pakistan which was also recognized by the Federal Government. This day was meant to pay tribute to the contributions of Pakistani farmers across the country and to highlight their issues and challenges for the attention of important policy and decision makers related to the agriculture sector.
