The problems with immigration status and priests continue for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington as four more parishes in southwestern Vermont will be left without priests at the end of this month, according to a news release from the diocese.
The Society of Divine Vocations informed the diocese that because of an immigration issue involving one of its priests, it will no longer be able to provide pastoral coverage for these parishes:
Our Lady of Seven Dolors in Fair Haven.
St. John the Baptist in Castleton.
St. Paul in Orwell.
St. Frances Cabrini in West Pawlet.
The Society of Divine Vocations is a congregation of priests, sisters and novices formed by Father Justin Russolillo in Italy in 1920, which came to the United States in 1962.
