Terry Pratchett’s The Abominable Snow Baby Being Animated for C4
The Abominable Snow Baby.
Produced by Eagle Eye Drama, in association with Narrativia, Pratchett’s independent production company, the animated Christmas special is based on a short story from his best-selling book of Christmas tales,
Father Christmas’ Fake Beard. It tells the story of a quintessentially English town that is thrown into disarray by a huge snowfall and the dramatic appearance of a 14-foot tall Abominable Snow Baby.
The program is supported by a grant from the BFI’s Young Audiences Content Fund.

The Abominable Snow Baby
The UK’s Channel 4 has commissioned a one-off animated adaptation of a Terry Pratchett story to air at Christmas this year.
The Abominable Snow Baby was originally published in late fantasy author Pratchett’s Christmas story collection Father Christmas’ Fake Beard. It is being adapted for TV by UK prodco Eagle Eye Drama, which was launched by Channel 4-owned Walter Presents in 2019.
Narritivia, the indie prodco Pratchett founded in 2012 before his death in 2015, is also producing the half-hour show. In the story, a quaint English town is thrown into chaos by the arrival of a 14-foot ‘abominable snow baby,’ but things change thanks to a local woman and her grandson.
