A Columbiana County grand jury indicted Joseph Matz, 20, of Homeworth with two felonies and four misdemeanors for the Jan. 3 death of Jennifer Moreland.
We have the file, and we started examining it immediately, Columbiana County Prosecutor Vito Abruzzino said Friday.
Jennifer and Josh Moreland, both 41, were inside their home at 2452 Knox School Road when a vehicle driven by Joseph M. Matz, 20, of Homeworth, crashed into it on Jan. 3, according to investigators.
Lt. Leslie Brode of the Lisbon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said his agency turned over its completed investigation report to the prosecutor s office this week after crime lab results came back more than four months after the crash.
Abruzzino said crime labs at the state level are overloaded. There is absolutely a problem with a backlog of state crime lab testing, and we have to work with state legislatures to solve this problem, Abruzzino said.
