Punch Newspapers Sections Grace Edema Some scholars have  said it is within the purview of the National Broadcasting Commission to caution the media but it must be careful not to gag it. Reacting to a letter written by NBC to broadcast stations on reporting about the herders’ crisis, a professor of Mass Communication at the Lagos State University, Ojo, Lai Oso and a media law lecturer, Department of Mass Communication, University of Lagos, Dr Fassy Yusuf, said it was not wrong for NBC to caution but the motive of the letter should be checked. Oso in an interview with The PUNCH said,  “I don’t think it is wrong for NBC to advise the media on the coverage of sensitive national issues. It is the intention behind the advice that we should look at. We should constantly remind ourselves of the fragility of Nigeria’s political system.
