When trainer Anette Lorentzon bought trotting filly Quick Stop as a yearling at last fall’s Standardbred Horse Sale, it was with an eye toward the future. But the eye on the present is pleased with the purchase as well.
Pretender and Fashion Schooner were the winners in the first edition $275,000 finals of the New Jersey Classic for “A” level New Jersey-sired trotters on Friday night (Sept. 9) at The Meadowlands.
After winning New Jersey Sire Stakes championships earlier this year at The Meadowlands, three-year-olds Fashion Schooner and Pretender will return to The Big M on Friday hoping to add to their collections of trophies for state-sired trotters.
Having been on the sidelines since a sensational 10-hole speed score in the $500,000 Hambletonian Oaks on Aug. 6, Fashion Schooner knocked off some cobwebs Friday night at The Meadowlands, easily taking the $30,000 featured Three-Year-Old Open Filly Trot.
