Plan to open new deli and sandwich shop in Worcester

A NEW deli and sandwich shop could soon be the latest addition to the city’s historic arches. The new sandwich shop, which would be run by Sangers, would open in one of the city’s arches in Netherton Court off Infirmary Walk according to an application submitted to Worcester City Council. The deli would seat 32 people. The proposed opening times are 9am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 9pm on Sundays. Two full-time and two part-time jobs would be created, the application said. The multi-million-pound plan to revitalise the historic Victorian railway arches was formally put forward at the start of the year.

Gas works in Worcester to mean one-way system for Britannia Square

Contractors Balfour Beatty are due to start work on Saturday, February 13, in Britannia Square. The work, set to last nine days, will take place in three phases, with the clockwise one-way system running for the duration. Diversions will see traffic using Braymoor Road, Moor Street, Loves Grove, Castle Street and The Tything. There will also be disruption this week in Worcester streets. Work by Severn Trent Water beginning today (Monday, January 25) in White Ladies Walk will see a partial closure of the street for three days. The street will be closed from its junction with White Ladies Close to its junction with Lansdowne Street, with diversions taking traffic via Lansdowne Street, Lansdowne Road, Tennis Walk and White Ladies Close.
