VERONA A man shot last week in Stuarts Draft by an Augusta County Sheriff s Office deputy remained hospitalized Monday, according to Virginia State Police.
Deonte L. Harris, 31, of Waynesboro, was shot early Thursday morning by a deputy responding to a report of an animal larceny.
Records show Harris has had an ongoing legal issue involving a dog since at least February.
He s also the twin brother of a man currently charged with murder in Waynesboro.
On Thursday shortly before 1 a.m., the deputy shot Harris in the 100 block of Farmside Street in Stuarts Draft. The deputy was responding to a domestic situation and a stolen dog report. The sheriff s office said the deputy encountered Harris, who was sitting in a vehicle.
