Haryana s Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday as unrest over the new farm laws continued to grow.
Chautala is the leader of Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), an alliance partner in the BJP-led government in Haryana. Some JJP MLAs are reportedly facing pressure from the protesting farmers over the contentious agriculture reforms. The deputy CM is expected to discuss issues related to the protests.

In a significant development, Supreme Court on Tuesday (January 12) ordered to constitute a committee to be headed by a former Chief Justice of India to resolve the impasse between the Centre and farmers against three new farm laws.
The committee comprises of Bhupinder Singh Mann, Pramod Kumar Joshi, Ashok Gulati and Anil Dhanwant and the apex court has ordered the committee to hold its first meeting within 10 days. The four-member committee will have to submit its report within two months after its first meeting.

A video of a turbaned man blackening the Hindi text on a signboard is circulating on social media with the claim that it is from Punjab, and the real agenda of farmers’ protest is to oppose Hindi and Hindus.

The signboard shows the text “NORTH ZONE CULTURAL CENTRE” written in English and Punjabi too. But the man is seen putting black paint on the Hindi text only.
The letter goes on to add that another cross-party letter addressing the concern was also forwarded to the foreign secretary Dominic Raab to ensure that he raised the matter with his counterpart.
