Amarillo announced as home for new Cacique food processing operation
Officials with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s office announced Wednesday afternoon that Amarillo will be the home to a new food processing operation of Cacique, a brand of authentic Mexican-style cheeses, cremas and chorizos.
According to previous Globe-News reports, Cacique plans to build a 200,000-square-foot food processing facility at the southern end of a business park located near the intersection of Farmers Avenue and South Georgia Street in Randall County.
The facility will cost $88 million, with $52 million in estimated improvements as well as $36 million in new equipment. In the first phase of the project, Cacique would bring 200 new, full-time jobs to the community, with the possibility of adding 300 jobs thereafter.
