Planned sugar importation to ensure supply, stabilize prices

Sugar Regulatory Administration chief Hermenegildo Serafica(Screengrab of DA virtual briefer) MANILA - The plan of the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) of the Department of Agriculture (DA) to import refined sugar is on hold due to two temporary restraining orders (TROs) obtained by sugar farmers associations in the Visayas. SRA Administrator Hermenegildo Serafica said in a virtual briefer on Tuesday importation is the best way to deal with the effects of Typhoon Odette, which destroyed mostly parts of Visayas and Mindanao in December 2021.
