A family whose son was allegedly beaten to death on a Piet Retief farm and had another narrowly escape with his life have voiced their despair after the Mpumalanga high court granted bail to his alleged killers.

Two young men accused of murdering a 46-year-old farmer in Winterton will again stand before a magistrate on Thursday.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala said: Last month, a team of dedicated Detectives from Winterton SAPS managed to make a breakthrough when they arrested two suspects. The first suspect Bongani Mkhwanazi (18) was arrested at Khethani area in Winterton. The second suspect Bokang Petrose Tsatsi (23) was arrested at Acaciaville in Ladysmith where he was hiding. He was found in possession of deceased’s binoculars and a speaker.
