Kuala Lumpur: By day, he was selling the fried pastry cakoi or yau char kwai, which translates into oil-fried devil. At other times, he was far more sinister – he had a gun in his house. He is now staring at the death sentence.
Yau char kwai trader Kow Peng Han, 39, pleaded guilty in the Ampang sessions court here today to three counts of unlawful possession of firearms, including a pistol, bullets and a machete, two weeks ago.
He admitted his guilt after the charge was read out to him in Mandarin before Judge Norhazani Hamzah, who then set Jan 27 for sentencing.
