Robbery bid foiled

PESHAWAR: A robbery bid was foiled by locals in the limits of the Faqirabad Police Station on Monday. An official said a local collected Rs300,000 from a local bank and was taking it home when armed men tried to snatch the cash. An official said an officer of the FIA, who was passing by, foiled the bid.
3 women among 1,006 ice dealers arrested in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Three women are among 1,006 drug dealers held by the police during operations against ice (meth) in the provincial capital in the last over three months, it was learnt.
One of the alleged women traffickers is an auto-rickshaw driver who went viral on social media recently for being the first woman driving a three-wheeler in Peshawar.
Officials said she was arrested by the cops of the Faqirabad Police Station while carrying 215 grams of ice. Interestingly, a traffic cop recently did not issue her ticket for not having a registration plate on her vehicle.
Judicial inquiry ordered into student’s death in custody

PESHAWAR: A judicial inquiry into the death of the grade-7 student in police custody was ordered as the deceased was laid to rest on Monday.
The district and sessions judge, Peshawar deputed a judicial magistrate to conduct the inquiry under Section 176 Criminal Procedure Code into the death of the student Shahzeb in custody at the West Cantonment Police Station. The magistrate was directed to submit the report within two weeks.
Shahzeb, a young student from Warsak Road, Peshawar was laid to rest in his ancestral village on Monday. Hundreds of people attended the funeral prayers. The police said he committed suicide in the lock-up of the West Cantonment Police Station on Sunday, but his father alleged that Shahzeb was tortured to death. Police said he was arrested after a brawl with local shopkeepers in Liaqat Bazaar and pointing gun at them.

Indus Highway blocked to protest killing of student in Peshawar

BANNU: The elders and members of the Ahmadzai Wazir tribes, Wazir Qaumi Ittehad and almost all political parties on Wednesday blocked the Indus Highway to protest the killing of student Mubashir Ahmad allegedly by cops in Peshawar recently.
The protesters blocked the Indus Highway for all kinds of vehicular traffic and chanted slogans against the police and government failure to provide protection to the law-abiding citizens. The protesters threatened to launch a phase-wise protest movement if the affected family was not provided justice forthwith.
They demanded the government to add terrorism sections to the case and initiate a judicial probe into the incident so that the accused could be awarded exemplary punishment. Speaking to protesters, Wazir Qaumi Ittehad president Akhtar Jan, Arif Wazir, Member National Assembly Mohsin Dawar, Rahmatullah Khan, ex-lawmaker Fakhar Azam Wazir, Awami N
