Kota Kinabalu: One in every 19 women in Malaysia is at risk of developing breast cancer in her lifetime, and an alarming rate of 23 new breast cancer cases are being reported daily in the country.
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah s Kapayan assemblyman Jannie Lasimbang is battling cancer but that has not stopped her from joining local singers and performing for the Kaamatan festivities.
Known for her decades of grassroots work with indigenous people in Sabah, Lasimbang said she wrote the lyrics for the song Sunduvan Kaamatan Aiso Vohit (Spirit of a Borderless Kaamatan) as she wants the communities to remain upbeat and stick to their goals.
Though there will be no celebrations to mark Kaamatan on May 30 and 31 this year, due to Covid-19 SOPs under the movement control order, she hoped the song will bring cheer and remind people that the Kaamatan spirit remains in the hearts of all indigenous people.
