A $75,000 gift from the Illinois Farm Bureau has funded the purchase of new high-tech equipment for the benefit of agricultural students.
Chris Magnuson, executive director of the Illinois Farm Bureau, told the Illinois Radio Network the Farm Bureau wants young farmers to have hands-on experience using 21st Century technology.
“We benefit when the best and the brightest go into fields of agriculture,” Magnuson said. “The Farm Bureau wants to encourage that by investing in our own industry.”
Illinois is one of the top three agricultural states in the country. Magnuson said the Farm Bureau invests in all four of Illinois’ agricultural schools: Illinois State, University of Illinois, Southern Illinois University and Western Illinois University.
