DeKALB – An NIU student died at approximately 1 p.m. Friday at Patterson Hall, located in the Fanny Ruth Patterson Complex, according to an official university statement sent to the Northern Star. The student’s name has not been confirmed by the Northern Star at this time. The cause of death is currently unknown. NIU Police.
The NIU Dietetic interns are putting on a Hawaiian-themed dinner from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Oct. 13 at Patterson Dining Center in the Fanny Ruth Patterson Complex, formerly known as New Hall. The menu will include Hawaiian chicken, vegan Huli-Huli cauliflower bites, DIY Hawaiian rice bowls, pineapple fried rice, shaved ice and other.
DeKALB – On Oct. 7, the NIU community will hold a ceremony in honor of New Hall being renamed the Fanny Ruth Patterson Complex, which will contain Patterson Hall East and Patterson Hall West. The change is being made to honor Fanny Ruth Patterson, the first African American to graduate from NIU. Patterson completed her.
NIU will rename New Residence Hall in honor of Fanny Ruth Patterson, the university’s first African American graduate. Meanwhile, the Campus Life Building will be renamed the Peters Campus Life Building after the school's longtime president.
