The Fannin County Rebels showed hustle and heart last night as they took on the Union County Panthers at home. The Rebels had just come from a win and hoped to carry it over into their non-conference matchup.
Union started off the game hot as they wasted no time putting points on the board. The Panthers were able to score 19 points before the Rebels put any points on the board. Jordan Bennett was the one to get things started for Fannin as he scored a three-point shot from above the key with 2:55 left on the clock. Landon Norton followed suit as he made a three-point shot of his own to add to Fannin’s score. Norton led Fannin in scoring for the night with 17 points overall, 15 of them being from made three-point shots. The Rebels were able to close the gap and managed to get the score to 20-14 to go into the second quarter.

Blue Ridge, GA- The Fannin County Rebels historic season came to an end Friday night, as they fell to number 1 ranked Fitzgerald in the Elite 8 of the GHSA state playoffs.
#TeamFYNsports will have a full recap of the season and all of the achievements and accolades of this historic team later in the week, however this article will only be a recap of Friday night.
Game notes-
Things were electric from the very start, as the two teams were both fired up to play in this Elite eight playoff game.
Last night, the Fannin County Rebels took on Gordon County at home. The Rebels had just come from a loss and hoped to redeem themselves for their second region matchup.
Both teams came ready to play as they hustled all game until the clock ran out. To start off the game, Jordan Bennett made an assist to Tucker Hanson for him to make a layup and take an early lead against the Warriors. It was a back and forth game as both teams kept stealing the lead from one another until Tucker Hanson made another layup and tied up the game 13-13 to end the first quarter.

Unbeatens:
Tonights matchup features two unbeaten teams. Fitzgerald comes in 11-0 and ranked number 1 overall in AA. Fannin Comes in ranked as high as 6 in some polls with a 10-0 record. No matter who you are pulling for, we will see one team come away with their first loss of the season.
Weather and Drive:
I could see the cold weather tonight coming into play for sure. Fitzgerald, being in south Georgia is probably not used to playing in the cold Blue Ridge weather. If Fannin comes out with some intensity and starts laying the wood early, they will have a good chance at coming out of this game on top. I also could see the long drive that Fitzgerald has coming into play here. Perhaps these guys are a little sluggish and that could give the rebels the opportunity to jum
