[cheering and applause] jon welcome. Welcome to the daily show. My name is jon stewart. We got a show tonight. Wutang clan is going to be on tonight. The wu history in the making. I mean, i got to tell you, if my name was jason and i wasnt here, i would be very upset about this show. But were wishing you the best, jason. Get home safe and then come and see wu tang with us. But before we get to that, which history in the making, political primary season still happening. Last night huge news results in the g. O. P. Tea party versus establishment civil war. That has been pitting young, hardline, Rightwing Tea Party obstructionists against older ones. [laughter] its the subject tonight. A number of primary votes yesterday, foremost among them, kansas. Threeterm conservative senator thats not him pat roberts. Thats him. He risked defeat at the hands of his own real estate decision. The New York Times revealed he does not have a home address in kansas. His voting address in the state is on a
We are glad its over. I think i know why. There are so many voters in our primary. One, the people of tennessee to the governor how proud they are of his hard work, and i want to congratulate him. [applause] secondly, those who voted in the republican primary wanted to send a different redge, that were not happy, that were disappointed with the direction of our country, and were hopeful of having a new republican majority in the nited states senate. There was another message in this primary tonight. In a large primary, in one of the most conservative states in the country, tennessee voters nominated a get it done republican governor and a get it done republican senator. Let me tell you what i mean by that. What i mean is that both governor haslem and i are conservative republicans. Both of us know when we finish our speech, were not done. In fact, we ought to just be starting to Work Together with others and try to solve the problems that face our country. Thats how tennessee has led t
As you all noticed, when you ask questions about negative ads congressman cotton talks about obama. Ask a question about the cotton bill . He talks about obama. You see a pattern . Clearly he is running against one man but i am running for 3 million arkansans. That is what this race is all about and the difference in this race. Im on your side. When i looked at you and i come home and travel the state and hear what is on your mind, thats when i go to work. Congressman cotton loves to throw out these phony stirks about how much i have agreed with president obama. You all know me. You know i dont agree with president obama on a whole variety of things. Just take the Keystone Pipeline. Take the dpa regs on carbon. Take the cuts to Social Security. I disagreed with him last year on gun control, so much so that when i voted no on his legislation, mayor bloomberg of new york city ran ads in arkansas criticize major league for standing up for your second mendment rights. I disagree with obama
Polls to choose the candidates they wanted to see on the ballot in november. Remarks from gop candidate, who bid. His [country music plays] thank you. [applause] thank you very much. Lets talk about the numbers. Cannot tell you how grateful i am to see you here tonight. The energy, the enthusiasm, the fact that you are here is speaking to something that is so persongger than any one in so much bigger than anyone of you individually. Give yourselves a round of applause. [applause] nine months ago, people thought we were crazy. Some thought we were crazy the whole time. Reality. E we know why we are here. You know the significance. We know the fact that this is not unprecedented. That when our Founding Fathers pledged their lives, their fortunes, their sacred , when their midnight runs they pledged those things, they meant it. Everyone one of them gave some or all of the above. I am humbled by that. I am a guy who, nine months ago, most of you wouldnt have known from a hole in the ground
From a hole in the ground. Yet here i stand. This was closer than many people anticipated it would be. Votesow, not 50 of the are in, but we are not going to win the race and that is ok to read we have conceded the fact will have mcconnell the votes to win. Thats the conversation we wanted to have. This is not what drew us to this race. I want to start, first of all, by analogy my family. Whooduce, for those of you have never met them in person. This is my beautiful wife. [applause] i shouldnt have turned around like that. That was a big mistake. I was doing great, actually. Until i turned around and looked at her. I am so blessed by an extraordinary wife. An extraordinary mother. Somebody who has poured herself into this in ways that have truly been above and beyond. I am blessed by nine beautiful children. Awesome children. Attentive, well behaved. Able to act as if i am still interesting when they have heard the same thing 400 times. They are extraordinary. [applause] this is jonah
