For a long time, temporary pop-up stages have been the platform for many concerts in the Outer Harbor and Canalside, but soon there could be a new permanent concert amphitheater on the water.
WGRZ reports plans for the proposed 8,000 seat venue have been approved by the Buffalo Planning Board.
Following approval, the project will be put out for bids by developers by late fall. If this happens, the new venue could be open for concerts and events by 2023.
WGRZ reports the groundbreaking for the venue will happen this fall at a cost of $10 million. The project is being funded using Buffalo Billion money.

Buffalo Business First reports plans for the proposed 8,000 seat venue are currently under review by the Buffalo Common Council.
The next step is for the Buffalo Planning Board to give approval to the project. That is expected to happen by early summer.
Following approval, the project will be put out for bids by developers by late fall. If this happens, the new venue could be open for concerts and events by 2023.
