the families don t have answers they deserve, which is the sole reason i m here. a year ago, atf agent john doddson blew whistle on fast and furious. the guns we saw turns up at crime scenes in the united states and mexico. yet, we still did nothing. congress vowed to get answers. we will not rest until every single person responsible for all of this, no matter they are, brought to justice. here we are, a year later. do the attorneys know anything more about the program? has anybody been held accountable for it? has any of their questions about this been answered? the justice department denieded and discredited doddson s claims. republicans leading a congressional investigation largely support doddson s claims, though democrats call it a political witch hunt. eric holder admits the tactics
than they should. they also work to help put themselves through college. and actually living costs are a big problem for many students. steve? no, the students are borrowing as much as they need because that s the only way they re going to get to stay in school. i work with a particular population of students, many of whom come from historically whom come from historically disadvantaged populations. borrow because their credit was bad from the housing situation. our children are struggling to make the basic tuition payments. they re coming home in their second year because there isn t enough. the federal government has made some grants available but it hasn t been enough to meet the rising costs of public education and private college education. there s got to be a stop at some point because we are going too fast too far. families don t make $50,000 a year, so how can they afford to pay $50,000 a year to go to college? even $27,000 a year? so many families are borrowing to the teet

we were spreading ourselves far too thin. facing a $50 million deficit. and if we didn t do something to take our school district off that trajectory, we could ve easily gone into bankruptcy. i m really sad. it s a great school, my son has had a lot of success here. it s a great learning environment. in many districts, their obsession with keeping every school open despite the declining population results in educational services being delivered in a much more inefficient manner. if your population has dropped 30% to 40%, at some point you ve got to consolidate schools. aided and abetted in the economic demise of the urban core. you will be remembered. employees of the schools are not speaking up. we re in a dire financial situation. and they re going to need to be some significant cuts. families don t count, children do. it is just as scandalous if
