COVID-19 in South Dakota: State reports 20 new COVID-19 deaths

Twenty additional South Dakotans with COVID-19 died, the South Dakota Department of Health reported Monday, bringing the total number of deaths to 1,381. The department reported 347 new infections, which brought the seven-day average to 531. The new infections were from 3,206 total new tests. A total of 95,074 known infections have occurred among South Dakotans. Four of the new infections were found among residents of a long-term care facility. Minnehaha County reported new infections in 84 of its residents, while Lincoln County had 62. Brown County residents had 15 new infections, and Codington County had seven. Eleven of Monday s deaths were in people aged 80 or older, and 11 were residents of a long-term care facility. Eight were in people 70-79 and one was 50-59. Twelve were women and eight were men. Average daily deaths had been falling, but the 20 new deaths increased the seven-day average from 14.6 to 17.4.
