United Family donates nearly 40,000 lbs. of apples across Texas & New Mexico South Plains Food Bank received 7,000 lbs. In the first 10 years of the Take a Bite Out of Hunger™ program, United Family stores have donated more than 500,000 pounds of apples and fed more than 167,000 families. Now in the eleventh year, the company continues to add to that total. This donation was part of a larger donation of more than 39,000 pounds of apples across Texas and New Mexico.

Organizers reported on their Facebook page there will be an emergency food distribution on Saturday, Feb. 20. Those in need are asked to visit their facility at 1230 Midwestern Parkway. A box of food and produce will be passed out at this location from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until supplies last.
