the airport. the aircraft, an atr-72, is a twin turboprop which can carry up to 74 passengers. it was flown by taiwan s transasia airways. why did it go down? the falling rain you see in these pictures was much heavier and may have contributed to the crash into some buildings. this typhoon named matmo had just passed over the islands. in fact, the flight s departure had been delayed for an hour and 45 minutes because of the heavy storm. finally taking off a little after 6:00 in the evening. but just a little more than an hour later, the twin prop plane tried to land at penghu islands. the first time aborted by the pilot. the second time it went down off airport grounds. under lights recovery crews worked and a black box has already been found. it s been a tough week, but generally deaths and aviation accidents are down. and here survival for some. generally it s those riding in the back of the plane who make it out alive. at the end of the day, we have to look at the whole
