Fall River Superintendent of Schools Dr. Matthew Malone has announced he is resigning. Malone sent a letter of resignation to the Fall River School Committee on Monday, May 31, stating his intention to exit on November 1st, 2021. In his letter, Malone cited the progress Fall River Public Schools have made under his leadership, but said it would be best for the district, as a whole, that I pass the baton of leadership. The school committee passed a vote of no confidence in Malone in February, and called for his resignation after allegations he harassed office staff and used demeaning language. At the time, Malone said he had no intention of resigning.
