The Inkerman Company leaves Falklands with spectacular live fire capability demonstration

This week the latest Falkland Islands Roulement Infantry Company (FIRIC), The Inkerman Company, left the Mount Pleasant Complex, MPC, headquarters of the British Forces South Atlantic Islands, BFSAI. They ended their deployment with a fairly spectacular live fire capability demonstration centered around a light role infantry platoon doing a conventional advance to contact in front of almost 40 guests from all corners of BFSAI.

Royal Irish reserves to deploy to the Falkland Islands next month

Reserve soldiers from Northern Ireland are to be deployed to the Falkland Islands. 2 Royal Irish will join the 1st Battalion of the Welsh Guards for a three-month operational tour of the south Atlantic islands. Nine reservists are currently completing their final training before flying to the Falklands in mid-May to work alongside the guardsmen as part of the Falkland Islands Roulement Infantry Company (FIRIC). Soldiers from 2 Royal Irish will conduct long range patrols on the islands (Crown copyright/PA) Based at RAF Mount Pleasant, the FIRIC is a rotational Army infantry unit that is part of the 1,200 personnel from all the services that make up the permanent garrison.
