No coercive action against Republic TV employees, police to Bombay HC
The ARG Outlier Media had approached the HC seeking, among other things, that the police be restrained from taking any coercive action against its employees.

MUMBAI: The Mumbai Police on Tuesday assured the Bombay High Court that no coercive action will be taken till December 16 against officials and employees of ARG Outlier Media, which operates Republic TV, who have been named in the chargesheet in the TRP (Television Rating Points) rigging case.

Abad Ponda, appearing for Khanchandani, told the court that police arrested him a day before his anticipatory bail application was to be heard by a sessions court. “The arrest is only to prevent him from arguing his case on Monday. The prosecution knew that a holiday court would not grant him bail and hence he was arrested on Sunday,” he said.
Khanchandani’s name cropped up during the investigation into distribution head Ghanshyam Singh’s role, officials said.
“During investigations, it came to light that Singh used to pay a monthly amount to Abhishek Kolawade of marketing company Max Media who, in turn, paid other accused and also households to watch Republic TV for a certain period of time to rig its TRPs. Khanchandani is the country head of the channel and is responsible for all routine work ranging from distribution to marketing of the channel and the illegal ways adopted by other accused in increasing the channel’s TRPs,” said the remand application submitted i
