KATHMANDU, May 10: Former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has been remanded in judicial custody for four days. Khand was arrested earlier this morning for his alleged involvement in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam.
DANG, May 10: Lakshmi Regmi (name changed) of Dang, who had paid Rs 500,000 to fly to America two years ago, was asked to go to Chitwan three months after paying the amount. It was told that she would fly directly to America after going to Chitwan.

The recent revelation by Former Additional Inspector General of Nepal Police Bigyan Raj Sharma regarding the release of two people arrested earlier in connection with the fake Bhutanese refugees scam under political pressure has raised serious concerns about the justice system in Nepal. It is alarming to hear that high-profile leaders of the ruling parties including the then Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand are allegedly involved in such heinous crimes, and despite the evidence, they were able to influence the release of the accused.
KATHMANDU, May 9: Nepali Congress MP Dr Arzu Rana Deuba has said that the US agency Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is also investigating the fake Bhutanese refugee scam.
