A Christchurch man slain in a violent incident has been farewelled 24 February 2021
Fijian born Faiz Ali was found dead at an Armagh Street block of flats on Sunday.
Ali was laid to rest at the Ruru Lawn Cemetery last night and prayers were held at the Al Noor mosque.
Travel restrictions kept his family in Fiji from attending but his brother told the NZ Herald they prayed together as Ali s funeral was held.
A 38-year-old man s been charged with murder and appeared in the Christchurch District Court, earlier this week.

Police were called to reports of a serious assault at a block of flats on Armagh St, on the fringe of the central city, about 7.35pm on Sunday.
Officers found Faiz Ali, aged in his early 30s, dead at the property. He’d been bludgeoned.
Witnesses reported seeing a bloodied man carrying a hammer fleeing the scene.
On Monday morning, a 38-year-old man appeared in the Christchurch District Court charged with murdering Ali.
