Suɔmɔ Hi Fe Shika, an exhibition of film posters, barbering and salon signages, opens at the Nubuke Foundation Gallery at East Legon, Accra today, March 6, at 4p.m.
The title of the exhibition, Suɔmɔ Hi Fe Shika, is a Ga phrase that translates as love is better than money and it appears on a salon signage.
Originally functioning as advertisement material, the works belong to Ghana’s vibrant visual popculture, a genre that includes tro-tro signages and decorative paintings on shop fronts and kiosks.
