An investigation report regarding coronavirus positivity cases during PSL 2021 will be submitted tomorrow, confirms PCB.

Witness tells ATC he saw police picking up Naqeebullah from hotel on Ispahani Road

A prosecution witness on Thursday recorded his statement before an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in the Naqeebullah murder case. However he failed to identify the accused present in the courtroom.
Twenty-three policemen, including former Malir SSP Rao Anwar, have been charged with the murder of Naqeebullah Mehsud, whose real name was Naseemullah Mehsud, who along with three others, Sabir, Nazar Jan and Ishaq, was killed in a fake encounter in the outskirts of the city on January 13, 2018.
The witness, whose name has been withheld to protect identity, said that on January 4, he was sitting at the Sher Agha Hotel on Abul Hassan Ispahani Road when some police vans arrived and picked up Naqeebullah and his two friends, who were later released.

Leading infectious diseases’ experts and vaccinologists have warned that herd immunity against the coronavirus cannot be achieved globally without vaccinating children, arguing that vaccinating the adults may prevent mortality, but the transmissibility of the virus would continue in the unvaccinated populations, especially children.
They said studies to vaccinate children are underway although these studies started very late. They made it clear that the transmission of the virus will not stop even by vaccinating 70 per cent of the adult populations globally.
“We may not be able to achieve herd immunity globally unless we vaccinate children as they are both in the numerator as well as in the denominator. We might be able to reduce mortality if don’t vaccinate children, but we will not be able to reduce transmissibility unless children are also vaccinated,” said Dr Saad B. KARACHI: Although, Pakistani authorities have started vaccinating their frontline healthcare workers with Chinese vaccine Sinopharm all over the country yet it is not suitable and recommended for people above 60 years, pregnant women and lactating mothers, under 18 year-olds among others, the country’s top health authorities warned on Wednesday.
Confirming that Sinopharm vaccine should not be given to people above 60 years of age, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Dr. Faisal Sultan said people above 60 would be vaccinated with Oxford-AstraZeneca’s vaccine AZD1222, which is due for arrival in Pakistan in Feb.
“Astrazeneca and others – probably Pfizer’s vaccine are the most suitable option for the elderly. AstraZeneca’s vaccine is expected to reach Pakistan this month through Covax (international health alliance) while Pfizer’s vaccine in limited number may also be available in March this year,” SAPM Dr. Faisal Sultan told The News.
