2016年10月，在纪念红军长征胜利80周年大会上，习近平总书记深情讲述了“半条被子”的故事。当年11月，故事发生地汝城县沙洲村发展起红色旅游，外出打工的村民回来了。
“五一、国庆，路面上到处都是车，跟赶集一样热闹!”村主任朱向群指着不远处的工地，“新停车场，能增加300多个车位。”
为服务好游客，村里已开办了13期免费培训班，有民宿班、餐饮班、礼仪班、电商班，还有针对中老年人开办的普通话班。
27岁的朱世伟和母亲朱丛英同为餐饮班学员。2017年开的家庭餐馆，去年营业额达20余万元。村里8家餐馆，他主打夜宵。沙洲村联动周边桂东第一军规广场、汝城热水温泉和资兴市东江湖景区，红色旅游与生态休闲游组合，“过夜”的游客越来越多。
