New Five Guys opens on Syracuse University Hill Updated 8:50 AM; Facebook Share Syracuse, N.Y. A new Five Guys location is open for business near the Syracuse University campus. The chain, known for its burgers and fries, opened Tuesday at 727 S. Crouse Ave. It’s on the ground level of The Marshall, a student apartment complex. Five Guys already has several locations in the Syracuse area, including near Great Northern Mall in Clay, at the Fairmount Fair plaza in Camillus and at DeWitt Town Center on Erie Boulevard. The DeWitt location is still listed on the chain’s website as temporarily closed.

An arts and craft store has joined the growing list of tenants that have left Destiny USA during the coronavirus pandemic. The Michaels store on the second floor of the mall’s Canyon section was closed Tuesday and employees were removing the last bit of merchandise from its shelves. A sign on the window told shoppers, “We’re closing this location only. We look forward to inspiring you again soon at one of our other Michaels stores.”

Central New York shoppers went to the numerous suburban shopping malls, Penn Can, Camillus, Shoppingtown, Fairmount Fair, Fayetteville, Northern Lights, Marketplace, Great Northern and the Galleries, to name a few, braving crowds, and the weather to finish their Christmas lists.
