HOUSTON Four members of a northwest Houston family were rushed to the hospital with carbon monoxide poisoning Tuesday afternoon.
One of the patients is a 3-year-old child, according to the fire department.
The child and two other family members were in serious condition when they arrived at Memorial Hermann Hospital. An older man was last reported in critical condition.
One of the family members was able to call 911 when they started feeling sick.
Fire crews discovered a portable generator in-use without proper ventilation in the garage of the home.

CyFair Fire Department says they responded to the inhalation emergency call at a home in the 17000 block of Cairnlassie in Houston on Tuesday.
Emergency medical crews transported the four patients, one in critical condition and three in serious but stable condition.

Big Rig Falls Off of 290 Bridge Near Cypress
In a story reported this morning by KHOU, a big rig fell off of an overpass in Houston. The crash took place near Cypress and happened just before 6 a.m. at the Grand Parkway/99 interchange. Firefighters arrived on the scene to find the big rig that had fallen into a grassy area beneath the freeway. The Cy-Fair Fire Department crews responded to the trailer vehicle with a trapped person. Fire crews extricated an adult male who was trapped inside the cab of the truck and EMS transported the patient in critical condition.
