Austin-East father is a self-appointed watchdog during dismissal time

Leonard Tall  Snow has a new afternoon routine. For the past two weeks, he has driven to Austin-East Magnet High School to walk the streets during school dismissal.  He looks for cars going too slow and cars going too fast. His main goal? Ensure his daughter s classmates feel safe getting home after four Austin-East students recently died due to gun violence. None of the students were shot on school property but the killings led to city and school officials to ramp up security at Austin-East and in the neighborhood. Snow walks the streets to help make the community feel more tight-knit. He said he grew up in a neighborhood with a village mentality. Everyone knew him. He joked that if he wanted to skip school, he had to go to the other side of town so he and his friends didn t get caught.
