CADILLAC — A familiar face could be returning to the Wexford County Building Department on a part-time basis after the upcoming board of commissioners meeting.
CADILLAC â Michigan Indigent Defense Commission funding and a resolution regarding commissioners terms will both be part of the upcoming Wexford County Board of Commissioner s meeting Wednesday.
The final numbers for the MIDC Fiscal Year 2022 Cost Analysis are currently being determined and will be provided to the board before the meeting, according to information in Wednesday s agenda packet. State statute states the countyâs local share for the indigent defense program is tied to the cost of living index. That means Wexford County s local share increase will be 1.2% for the MIDC s fiscal year 2022, which runs with the state s fiscal year that starts Oct. 1.
CADILLAC â Although all nine Wexford County Board of Commissioners were present at Wednesday s meeting, only five were able to vote.
Per the March 31 Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Gathering and Face Mask Order Amendment, the public may participate in person in government meetings if social distancing guidelines are followed. That also meant the virtual meetings no longer were an option of the Open Meetings Act unless certain action was taken such as a municipality declaring a state of emergency.
What that meant Wednesday is the four commissioners who attended the meeting via Zoom, Joe Hurlburt, Michael Musta, Julie Theobald and Brian Potter, were not able to vote on any action item.
