“Nice trainers!” I told a punter queuing for his jab at a vaccination centre in a Croydon shopping centre this week. In my defence, they were nice Nike trainers, and he was young, handsome and had something of a swagger about him. Or so I thought, anyway.
Then I also thought: “Oh no, Sophia, has it really come to this? Flirting while you’re on duty? You’re supposed to be helping the war effort, not flashing your hi-vis vest and chatting up people when they’re waiting for a shot in the arm, potentially vulnerable and at a low ebb.”
